Maple in the Classroom
Maple in the Classroom is a partnership between teachers and local maple producers with the goal of educating students about the different aspects of maple syrup production.
This program creates opportunities to enrich students’ STEM education with lessons about maple syrup production. This fascinating process combines knowledge of biology, chemistry, physics, forestry and agriculture to make a sticky, sweet treat.
For students, maple education provides an opportunity to learn practical uses of sciences taught in the classroom, gain hands on experience in- and outside the classroom, investigate a growing West Virginia industry, and spark interest in the world around them through experiential learning.
Maple can be introduced to all grade levels and classes, from kindergarten to 12th grade. Teachers will find the resources needed to create curricula that can integrate maple into many aspects of classroom learning.
We look forward to working with you on your maple adventures!
