July 26 – 29, 2020 (beginner)
This introductory program will begin and end at our Spruce Knob Mountain Center, with nights split between sleeping in our dorms and camping in the national forest. Once we load our packs and head into the woods, we’ll get to know the local area through explorations of the valley and summit ecosystems. Along the way we’ll catch stream critters, visit swimming holes, beaver ponds, and practice navigation skills as we summit the highest point in the state. Together we will learn what it takes to set up camp, care for ourselves and each other, while overcoming the challenge of being away from home and making new friends.
