For the camper looking to take it to the next level – we are going to do a little bit of everything on this high adventure travel camp.
Nothing is virtual about this camp, it is a real-world adventure in all its stunning and gritty glory, far from reliable wi-fi and cell signals, and a prime opportunity to evaluate outlooks and priorities for the high-school aged camper.
We will start at our 600-acre Sweetwater Farm Trail Center where we will begin preparing for our expedition. From there, we will take off on a tour of some of the best highlights of Pendleton County, we’ll climb, cave, and prepare for the next leg of the expedition.
Next up, we’ll head to the backcountry for a 4-day backpacking trip. After that, we’ll take a small break to recoup and recover before hitting the adventure hard from the New River Gorge area. Here we will climb, paddle, and explore our hearts out. Over the course of the two weeks, we’ll partner with the USFS on trail-based service projects earning community service hours for our time working on the trails.
This camp will work to more deeply develop campers’ adventure and wilderness survival skills as well as fostering relationships with each other, and awareness of group dynamics. Our mindfulness and reflection exercises will help each camper identify their strengths, weaknesses, and preferences and the supportive environment will help them develop confidence in the value and importance of their unique offerings.
